Penny Whitfield Dixon is retired from teaching math to special needs students at Leesburg High School.
She also owns and helps manage The Way Café located at 215 W. Main St., in the heart of historic downtown Leesburg, Florida. Telephone 352-326-3006. The Way Cafe has a religious theme with salad names like "The Mary," "The Jabez," and "The Patmos" (Greek) and sandwiches called "The Matthew" and "The Jonah" (tuna), etc. Diners ask for a copy of the menu because of it's uniqueness. The food and service are good and many days there are few empty seats at The Way. Come to see us when in Central Florida!

Frye has been in the world of education since getting her BS in
physical education from Florida in 1968. (She is still a huge Gator fan
and is looking forward to seeing Steve Spurrier, a former classmate,
working up close here in South Carolina.) After teaching 4 years in
elementary school physical education (2 in Perry, 2 in Middleburg) she
completed a master's at Florida and a doctorate (P.E.D.) at Indiana
University. She taught a year at IU before moving to Ithaca, NY, where
she taught physical education and was an assistant dean for 13 years.
Her speciality area is measurement and evaluation, and she also teaches
statistics and research methods.
She likes the cold weather, so she stayed north and moved to Kalamazoo, MI, where she taught in the same Health and Physical Education Department as one of her roommates from IU days. After her sister Susan died, she moved to Orangeburg, where she teaches at South Carolina State University. Just this year she has been named Coordinator of Health and Physical Education.
She is still single and has no children, but she "adopts" them everywhere she goes. Since her brother Bill also passed away, she and brother Dick, along with 2 "double-first" cousins are the extended family. She has 2 nephews who have given her 3 grand nieces and 4 grand nephews, all of whom live in Monroe, OH. She also has a step grandniece and a step grandnephew in Hawaii; Bill's step-daughter is their proud mother.
She currently plays bass clarinet in the Columbia (SC) Community Concert Band, and travels around the south as a U.S. Track and Field official to work at a variety of track and field meets. She also sings in the choir and serves on the vestry of the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer in Orangeburg.

Tom and I have been married 40 years this Aug. He retired from Buckeye in 2002 and I retired from Buckeye in 2004. However, I have continued to work part-time at my daughter's salon, His Hers & Ours. I am the skin care specialist....I do facials, skin treatments, waxing (ouch!) and spray tans. Fun, fun, fun.
I am also a member of the Elks Lodge in Perry. I am the lodge secretary and work on several committees involving our youth--camper scholarships, scholarships for high school seniors, etc. Also help out on the club side with party bookings .... love parties!
Tom remains an avid fisherman and hunter....is just getting back into the swing of things since having 2 hip replacements.
We have 2 children - Shanon Westberry and Nicole Ratliff.
Shanon is married to a Georgia girl, Lisa -- they have 2 boys -- JT, 22 and Shane, 17.
Nicole married Todd Ratliff - a good home-grown boy -- they have 4 children. Todd, Jr is 13, Abigail is 10, and then they have the twins -- Keaton and Karlee ... they were a surprise that came along 3 years ago. They keep us all busy.
I miss all my friends from high school and it is always a joy to spend time together remembering all the good times and good friends.... these days it takes a lot of prompting to "remember" some of the funs times....
